Ear spoons were the "Q-tip" of the ancients and an indispensable part of women's costumes in the Viking Age. Ear spoons were therefore found in many different forms everywhere in the settlement areas of the Vikings.
The ear spoon was attached to a long chain or a leather strap on an oval brooch of the woman's garment and hung down from there at belt level - ready for use at any time. Often, a pair of tweezers and an awl were attached in this way at the same time.
The Viking ear spoon measures 7.5 x 1.3 cm. Bronze or real silver-plated.
A black leather cord of 1 m length is included.
Ear spoons and fine tweezers made of bronze have been used for personal hygiene since the Bronze Age. For Egyptians and Romans, these were even part of the medical instruments, and they were also widely used by Germanic and Viking peoples as indispensable components of hygiene and beauty care.
