U-shaped fitting for the edge of a Viking knife sheath or sax scabbard, based on a historical model from Birka / Sweden.Sheath fittings of bronze are known from various places from the Viking Age, including Birka and Gotland, and were used to fit the edge of a knife sheath or sax scabbard lengthwise.
The Viking sheath fitting measures 1 x 0.7 cm. Opening 3.5 mm.
Perfect to mount two layers of 1.5 - 1.8 mm thick leather.
You can buy the fitting in high-quality bronze or genuine silver-plated.

A brass pin is included to attach the edge fitting to the Viking scabbard. It is simply inserted through a hole in the leather and shortened about 1 mm above the fitting with a side cutter.
You can then simply tap the pin with a small hammer in a circular motion to permanently attach the edge fitting to the knife sheath.
