Medieval belt pouch based on the bag of Runneburg.
This belt pouch in the style of the High Middle Ages is inspired by the model of the bag of Runneburg, which dates to around 1250 AD, made of a supple yet robust cowhide.The semi-circular shape of the Runneburg belt pouch is typical of the belt bags of the High Middle Ages in the 12th and 13th centuries.
The Runneburg belt pouch is thus an excellent addition to historical garb for the High Middle Ages.
Dimensions approx. 13 x 20 cm (incl. loops 17 x 20 cm)
On the back of the "Runneburg" belt pouch there are two leather loops suitable for belts up to 7 cm wide.
The front is adorned with a buckle, a medieval fitting and a beautifully shaped strap end.
You can choose between a version with a round or a version with a square decorative mount.
The "Runneburg" medieval belt pouch is available in black leather with silver-coloured or brown leather with brass-coloured buckle and fittings.
During an excavation in the former well of the Runneburg in Weißensee (Thuringia), a remarkably well-preserved belt pouch with buckles made of bone was found. The Runneburg bag was made of goatskin and measured approx. 18 x 10 cm
.
In addition to the Runneburg pouch, a bag fragment of similar shape was found during excavations in Schleswig. In addition, the Manessian song manuscript and the Maciejowski Bible (Crusader Bible) show representations of medieval belt bags with the same semicircular cut and the suggestion of a saddle-like design as the Runneburg bag.
