Productdetails...

Roman dolphin amulet in the shape of a triskele.

This small Roman dolphin pendant in the shape of a triskele is based on a Roman find from the 2nd to 3rd century.

The historical model for this dolphin pendant comes from a private collection and had a diameter of 7.6 cm. The Roman dolphin disc was possibly used as a phalera, i.e. as a decorative disc on a Roman sword belt, or was used as a fitting.

The triple circular arrangement of the dolphins is reminiscent of a Celtic triskele, which was quite common as a motif in the Roman Empire at the end of the 2nd century and was regarded as a lucky number and represented the cycle of birth, flowering and end and thus the reference to the divine and supernatural.

The Roman dolphin amulet has a diameter of around 2.5 cm.

You can buy the dolphin pendant in high-quality bronze or genuine silver-plated.
Alternatively, you can also order it in 925 sterling silver (please note delivery time).

A 1 metre long black leather strap is included with the Roman pendant.

Dolphins often appeared in the myths of antiquity and were regarded as helpful creatures. For example, they saved the shipwrecked poet Arion of Lesbos from drowning.

According to legend, the Greek god Apollo transformed himself into a dolphin and dolphins also appeared as messengers of the sea god Poseidon in ancient mythology and in Roman art, the god of love Eros was often depicted riding a dolphin.
