Viking strap divider from Gotland.

This detailed replica of a four-part Viking strap divider was made after a model from Gotland (Sweden), which dates to the 11th century.

Link to the historical model...

The Viking strap divider consists of four parts made of high-quality bronze casting.

The individual fittings measure 5.5 x 1.5 cm. The ring has a diameter of 3 cm.

The Viking strap divider is suitable for straps 3 - 4 mm thick and 2 - 3 cm wide. 6 double-headed rivets for fastening are included.

Strap dividers were quite common among the Vikings and were used in Birka and on Gotland as well as in Russia and other Viking settlement areas.

Strap dividers were used in Viking times to fasten the individual straps of a sword hanger or the suspension for a sax. They ensured that they hung at the optimum angle on the belt, ready to hand.
